Hey all, I'm Shaun from the Infracost team (👋), and today we're announcing end-to-end support for Kubernetes in Infracost! Shipping Infracost Kubernetes support meant making a few product calls. Here’s the thinking behind each part: 1. Rightsize to P95, not the average. Sizing to the average looks great on paper, right up until someone gets paged at 2am. 2. Fix it in code, not in the cluster. If a tool patches the running cluster, the next deploy overwrites the fix. We open a pull request against the workload definition, so the change goes through review and sticks. 3. Stop new waste with simple, checkable math. Pull request estimates use OpenCost’s reference rates, so any engineer can verify the number in their head. Rightsizing uses your actual bill, because that’s the money you’re already spending. We’re starting with Datadog for utilization. If you run something else, let me know and I'll pass it on to the product team. As always, we'd love your feedback on what we've shipped. infracost.io/resources/blog/kubernetes-rightsizing-fixed-at-the-source
