👋 Hey everyone, we started the Shift FinOps Left movement about six years ago because it felt unfair to blame engineers for cloud costs going through the roof. We needed better FinOps tools for engineers, so we built it directly into the Pull Request: When an engineer writes infra as code, Infracost tells them how much the change will cost before they deploy, and how they can optimize it. Now, in 2026, the world has changed with AI coding agents like Claude, Copilot, and Cursor. Engineers are no longer writing all of the code. AI is contributing too. So we need to shift left again. We need FinOps built into coding agents, even before engineers see the code. Shift left of left. We are launching Infracost Dev today! It Shifts FinOps (and your tagging, and your policies, custom price books etc), directly into the coding agents as the engineers ask it to generate the code. This is a short-circuit, directly into the code from FinOps. We are already seeing it make a huge impact on costs, and seeing 100% tagging issues being fixed within literally hours. And that is thousands of tagging issues. Check it out in the video demo on Cost.dev
